HKBU invented portable device for quick and accurate detection of lead contamination in water


Dr. Kangning Ren and his team invented a portable device for detecting lead contamination in water. The sensitivity of the device is 2 micrograms of of lead per litre of water, while recommended limit from WHO and Hong Kong government is 10 micrograms per litre. The test just takes 10 minutes and results would be displayed in connected mobile app. The device won the gold medal at the 46th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva, Switzerland.
